Go Green! Miss Astro Chinese International 2008 - Astro国际华裔小姐2008)

Go Green!! Let's recycle!!!

When we first started to think of the idea of this collection, I told my team.. Since this year's theme is Go Green... If possible, we better don't spent even 1 cent to buy any new materials but to made this collection looks fun & gorgeous ( i know is not that easy to put all so called junk together and create into something nice within a very short time) and we really did it by recycling & reuse old & unwanted stuffs that we have from the workshop, thanks to my team, they really spent a lot of efforts and times to completed it.

May's dress used up to 4 full neck-ties, 3 pieces of half ties (the other 3 pieces half ties used on Renee's dress) left over sequin trimming, left over jersey and remanents pleated organza to made.
I made this ;p

Before...
(my husband's old ties)

After.

Renee's dress made by 6 full neck-ties, 3 pieces half ties, vintage buttons, remanents pleated fabrics & some left over silk chiffon. This dress is 95% hand stitching. (Saved some electricity ;p)
Mariana's creation.

Mariana arranging the ties and hand stitching it.

Looks nice already..

During final fitting we decided to add a bit more puffy to make it more grand..

Kamen's dress made by my daughter's old pants, a few pieces of printed & shaded silk chiffons, unwanted jersey as inner lining & a lor of old buttons. 50% hand stitched.
Hayden & Yvonne's work.

Rachel's favorite pants. She can't wear it anymore, so we gave it a new life.

These printed silk chiffons are remanents of our evening gowns. couldn't use to make any other styles.

Hayden is trying to match the colors to make it looks nicer.

A sweet look dress, fit Kamen so well!

Queen's outfit contents the most glamourous fabrics. It made by a few left over evening beaded silk, french laces, lace trimming, velvet, can-can net & some over heated pleated materials that supposed to throw. And the effects are unbelievable gorgeous!
My creation.

Any different compare to the picture above?
Yes! I added white can-can to make the skirt doesn't look that boring. :p
Queen's dimples are so charming!

Lyn's Chicago look dress is made by many many pieces of left over laces, unwanted nets & left over jersey strings as fringes. I love the fringes so much! I'm so proud to saved them, i'm on right timing to stopped the cutter when they are about to throw it (those string are actually the sides of jersey lining, b'cox it always not even or straight enough, so normally cutter will cut off about an inch to made it straight)
This dress is 95% hand stitched by Hayden.

While Lyn's fitting realizes that the sleeve is a bit weird.. so decided to add on more net under it to make it glam. (Lyn... this is the back.. haha :D)

One of my own creation. Kelly is so skinny, that's why i decided to let her wear this, cox it is quite thick, if i put on other girls.. Might made them look big... And i made a correct decision, Kelly really carried it well.
The corset is made by 3 full old neck-ties, a few pieces of neck-tie linings from Renee's & May's plus some unwanted organdy & nets.
70% hand stitched by Me ;p

Branded!! About 10 years old ties.
(don't feel like cutting it into half.. so i folded it)

Begin the transformations...

I'm loving it!

Thought of adding some buttons.. but after Kelly came for fitting.. Decided to keep it the way it is. Nice!!!!

Joey's outfit is made by left over chiffons, left over pleated nets, old buttons and organdy. Janet took a week to hand stitched the corset.

Specially keep for Joey, cox while Janet making this.. Joey is the one that appeared in my mind.. And proven that it suits her so well!

Felicia's dress is made by a various colors of chiffon remanents, some are after made customers dresses left over and some are really small pieces of chiffons left over.
Nut took 3 working days to machine sew the furry like sleeve and sweep.

Felicia at fitting day.

While i'm making this dress... Carine is the one i mind set is made for her, cox her milky skin tone will suit the colors really well.
My another creation.
(Thanks Yvonne for helping me to hand stitch those accessories)

All remanents of costly fabrics.

The inner base is an old torn dress and i'm adding the left over french net on it..

Carine.. You look nicer without a lot of make up..

My kids unwanted tees. Too small couldn't fit them anymore.. So we gave them a new life too..

We transformed the tees into this pretty little princess style for Linaa.
Another Mariana's work, she spent about 5 days to cut, paste & all hand stitched.
